<p> In 1888 seventy-eight girls and five teachers entered the boys' Grammar School in Symonds Street, Auckland. Although on the same site they operated as two separate schools and much effort was put into keeping the boys and girls apart! The girls had their own quarters, a separate entrance and a 14-foot wall divided the playground. Auckland Girls' Grammar School is committed to providing an education for young women which encourages achievement and self esteem, fosters a co-operative spirit and celebrates diversity so that students develop the knowledge, skills and values necessary to face the challenges of the future and to participate in a bi-cultural and ethnically diverse society. The Board of Trustees is accountable for the school's performance and for enhancing student achievement. It emphasizes strategic leadership, sets the vision for the school and ensures that it complies with legal and policy requirements. Auckland Girls' employs 89 teachers and 29 support staff who are guided by the Senior Management Team. Auckland Girls' Grammar School has students from more than 50 different countries. We celebrate our cultural diversity officially with an International Week in Term 1.Auckland Girls' Grammar School is a signatory to the New Zealand Ministry of Education's Code of Practice for International Students.</p>
