How to become a well-rounded performer in two fun years! Performance Studies at Bilborough Sixth Form College is taught in our purpose-built studio which has a sprung floor, mirrored walls, and portable sound and lighting equipment. The studio can be split into four separate areas for group work. We have been running this course very successfully for many years, achieving consistently very good results. (In 2012 our students had a 95 per cent AS pass rate, with 44 per cent achieving higher grades. Results at A-level are consistently outstanding with 2012 yielding a 100 per cent A2 pass rate and 65 per cent of students getting A or B grades.)

You will also need a recent IELTS Certificate with a minimum IELTS level of 5.5 - 6.0 to begin the A-level and International Baccalaureate courses

There are two modules at AS-level: 'Creating Performance' and 'Performance Contexts 1'.There are a further two modules at A2 level. In 'Performance Contexts 2', examined by a written paper, we study postmodern approaches to the performing arts since 1960 - for example, the dance of Matthew Bourne, the theatre of Steven Berkoff and the music of Philip Glass. There are two parts to the 'Performance Project' module, which is assessed by a visiting examiner. The first requires you to perform an extract from repertoires you have studied. For the final part of this practical module you'll work in a group to create an original performance that explores techniques and approaches learned during the course.
